Undistracted by likes and subs and prompts offering everything but genuine human contact, we can meet mindfully and make well-considered new relationship choices. There's no public discourse, only private video messages which may lead by choice to full-contact in private video calls.
Connections that make Sense
Who defines what social connections make sense? Well, hopefully, that's something that one decides for one's self. And surely, the absence of ads and peruasive-design elements lets us see one-another more clearly. So let's clear the air ...

No algorithmic influence
Videos in the Gallery may be sorted by date, alphabet and/or hashtag. There is no algorithmic influence pushing video posts up or down. Since it certainly takes some conscious effort to find potentially rewarding chat-partners and consider how to respond, we can expect that most connection-request messages to be sincere.
When posting videos to the Gallery, take care to title and describe them thoughtfully - you want to ellicit constructive responses, right? Use "
#" to turn any word into a searchable hashtag.
When posting private video messages in response, remember that authenticity beats bs every time and that your email address is made accessible so it can be accepted as a new Contact or blocked from the recipient's account.

The social impact of visual communication:
Video Builds Trust and Empathy
Video calls capture the full spectrum of human communication. Research shows that 55% of communication is body language, 38% is tone of voice, and only 7% is actual words. Video calls are the only digital medium that captures all three layers, creating connections that feel genuinely human rather than mechanically transactional.
Seeing someone's face builds trust and empathy faster. When you look into someone's eyes, even through a screen, your brain triggers the same bonding response as in-person meetings. This visual connection releases oxytocin - the "bonding hormone" - while eliminating the misinterpretations and confusion that plague text and audio-only conversations.
Video calls create shared experiences and lasting memories. You're not just exchanging information - you're sharing moments. Whether it's seeing someone's living space, meeting their pet, or laughing together over a visual mishap, these spontaneous human moments create the stories and inside jokes that build genuine friendships.
Video calls are more efficient for building understanding. Facial expressions provide instant feedback on whether your message is landing as intended. You can immediately adjust your approach based on visual cues, preventing the endless back-and-forth clarifications that slow down other forms of communication.
Build Authentic Connections Online
Authentic online connections begin with intentional vulnerability and genuine curiosity about others. Real relationships form when people show up as their true selves—sharing struggles, passions, and everyday moments rather than just curated highlights.
This means moving beyond small talk and algorithmic suggestions to ask questions that matter and create space for honest conversations. When we approach digital interactions with the same openness we'd bring to meeting someone in person, technology becomes a bridge to meaningful connection.
